As as a young man I saw the Eisenhower interstate highway system spring to life making interstate travel viable.
I traveled it to many places often repeating the same route. I watched as it deteriorated and the futile attempts to resurrect it's initial glory. Granted some cities and states are making some progress, often it is too little too late.
We have people in this country who advocate open borders, we possibly could provide the care and services they need but like the highway system the funds would go into the general fund to be divvied up and spent several times over.
Much like Social Security that was self funding and President Johnson moved it to the general fund to pay for the Vietnam war. The war has been over for many years why hasn't congress reestablished the separate fund? Simply because they need those monies to fund their pet programs. Oh and the income tax was to pay for which war?
If we continue on this path the deterioration will increase at an exponential rate we will no longer be able to provide the services the government funds. This includes all levels from the towns to the federal.
Well lets see, if we open the borders, will this create the proverbial "slippery slope"?
Most states, counties and cities do not have the foresight to understand all things deteriorate, if not maintained they gain momentum on the road to complete destruction.
People have a tendency to deteriorate as they age requiring more funds to maintain the quality of life.
Our immigrants must be able to work and support themselves minimum wage or less does not provide the quality of life these people expect so they will turn to the government for housing. medical care and food for sustenance.
When the original immigrants came over there were no government subsidies, that was why they went to work and learned the language of the land.
Government debt may not be all bad but who owns our debt?
